Note from the President

Fellow Illinois Sister Cities members we had a great Annual Conference in Naperville.  The welcoming spirit, entertainment with great cultural presentations and thoughtful and insightful presentations on Saturday made for a very rewarding conference.  Thank you Naperville for providing a valuable conference experience.

 

ISCA elected four new Board Members Dennis Roberts, Urbana for a second term; Nancy Devereux, Palatine for a second term and Janet Kenney, Springfield for a first term and Carol Zerkle, Springfield for a first term.  Congratulations and Welcome.

 

Executive Committee elections were also completed this year at the post Annual Meeting Board Meeting.  The Executive Committee is Paula Randant, President; Janet Kenney, Vice-President, Carol Zerkle, Secretary and Randy Russell, Treasurer.  Thank you Executive Committee for agreeing to serve in a Leadership Position for a two year term.

 

I also want to thank Melissa Birch for her service to the ISCA as a Board Member and as Secretary.  Melissa has left the Board and is taking on the new challenge of Alderman for West Chicago.  We wish her well in her new position.

Sister Cities PortaLoo – Waterloo – Partnership – Porta Westfalica, Germany  

    35th Anniversary of Partnership.  (Established on October 2, 1980) 

 

Belleville Sister Cities, Inc. – Partnership – Paderborn, Germany

    25th Anniversary of Partnership   (Established on September 2, 1990)

 

Millstadt Sister Cities Organization – Partnership – Gross-Bieberau, Hesse Germany  

    15th Anniversary of Partnership.  (Established on October 2, 2000)

We also want to congratulate Tinley Park  and their partner city Budingen, Germany (1989-2014) for 25 years in a Sister Cities Partnership. 

 

We are coming up on the Illinois Sister City of the Year Award process.  We have added a new award recognizing Illinois Sister Cities that support youth programs in their communities.  Applications are available for the Illinois Sister City of the Year Award and the Illinois Sister City Champion of Youth Award.  You can apply for one or both of the awards.  Applications are available on the website www.illinoissistercities.org.

Please send information on your Sister Cities events for publication on our website and Facebook.  Pictures are appreciated as well.

ISCA is seeking a techy intern to work with me on our website and social media.  If you know someone who would like an intern experience and is techy have them email me for more information.
