A Note from the ISCA President
ISCA friends and members I want to thank the city of Urbana and the Urbana Sister Cities organization for hosting the ISCA Annual conference and Annual meeting. The program of speakers and entertainers was wonderful. The dancers from the Chinese Heritage Association, the Chai-Town A Capella choir and the Wongani Katundu’s Machona Band with Rick Deja were amazing. The welcome from Mayor Prussing and the remarks from Robert Easter, President of the University of Illinois were most appreciated. The issues and information presented by individuals who participated in the Malawi and China exchange programs offered great insight and depth into the cultures involved and the challenge of humanitarian Sister Cities relationships. Urbana is a model of cooperation between cities to achieve a worthy goal. Dennis Roberts, our ISCA Vice-President and the Urbana Sister Cities organization we thank you for the great conference and for being a model for humanitarian relationships.
Members and friends for those of you who missed this great experience put Naperville on your schedule for next spring’s annual conference. Each annual conference brings us as ISCA members the opportunity to learn and experience the rich relationships our Sister City programs in Illinois are living. It is awe inspiring.
Congratulations to our three new ISCA Board members, Janet Kenney from Springfield, Taj Artis from Decatur and Cathy Seagren from Dixon. Welcome and we all look forward to working with you.
A last word, if you are looking to become more involved in Sister Cities become an individual or family member and let us know what type of committee work you would like to do. Go to our website www.illinoissistercities.org and also check us out on Facebook.
