Fellow Sister Cities Members:

I hope his Newsletter finds you enjoying the summer.  I am going to introduce myself as part of my message today.  I am Paula B. Randant and am a retired School Social Worker.  I have been involved with Sister Cities since 1960 when as an 8th grade student I joined the pen pal program.  I had a pen pal relationship for more than 10 years with a student from Strasbourg, France.  Sister Cities and its role of Citizen Diplomacy has always appealed to me.  My husband and I are members of the Mount Prospect Sister Cities Commission and have been involved in several exchanges.  In May 2011 my husband, Gary and I were part of the delegation from Mount Prospect to Sèvres, France.  In December 2011 I was a member of a delegation to Paris with the Chicago Paris Social Service Subcommittee.  Both exchanges were life changing experiences.  In spring 2011 I was elected to the ISCA Board of Directors and I took the ISCA website as my challenge.  We have made progress with the website and social media in getting the word out about Illinois Sister Cities and what a great organization Sister Cities is and how special the Sister Cities relationships are with cities around the world.  I hope as President of the ISCA to increase visibility of Sister Cities in Illinois and the great work our members do in their Sister Cities relationships.  I hope to attend local meetings and events. Please send me an invitation so that I can schedule visits to as many Sister Cities programs around the State as possible.  As a State organization the ISCA is working to assist our members in developing or enhancing your Sister Cities organizations and helping in the sharing of information between our membership. We hope to help our members to support each other by attending each other’s events and sharing knowledge and information between cities.  Our website is a great place to share information and spread the news of Sister Cities. Check us out on Facebook and twitter.  Seek us out and LIKE us.  Send me your news and I will spread it on all our media, we love pictures too.

We will be activating two new memberships this year Associate and Corporate/Business for individuals and businesses who share our mission and may not be a direct part of a local Sister Cities organization. Look for more news later this year.

Please don’t forget to renew your membership.  Look for announcements on the website, check us out on Facebook and LIKE us at Illinois Sister Cities Association and we are on twitter at ISCAssociation@ISCAssociation.  We want to hear about your triumphs and your challenges so please share them with me.  My email address is  I am proud to be a member of such a great organization and hope to further its growth and service to our membership during my term.

Paula B. Randant
