February 10, 2013 | Paula Randant | Leave a comment On Friday and Saturday, February 1 and 2, a delegation from Hamburg accompanied the Hamburg Ballet for their appearance at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance. The Hamburg Senator for Culture, Professor Barbara Kisseler accompanied the Hamburg Ballet to Chicago. She was in Chicago to start laying the groundwork for the 20th anniversary of the sister city partnership between Chicago and Hamburg that will be celebrated in 2014. Professor Kisseler had the opportunity to meet with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Michelle T. Boone, Commissioner at the City of Chicago, Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events in addition to artists, German-American groups and the Goethe-Institut. Accompanying Professor Kisseler were Hans Heinrich Bethge, Senate leader, Manager of the Office of Culture and Johannes Everke, Hamburg Marketing, Director of Marketing Services. The Hamburg Committee of CSCI met with the delegation to further discuss the 20th anniversary of the Chicago and Hamburg Sister City relationship in 2014. The Committee also hosted a breakfast for the delegation, took them on a tour of the city and its cultural institutions, and hosted them for a lunch on Sunday.
